Sicily Lab_School addiction prevention project

The Lab_School project has entered its second year in Sicily, an initiative funded by the Sicilian Regional Department of Education and Vocational Training to combat addiction and social distress among students through sports and healthy lifestyles.

The program utilizes non-formal education and innovative teaching methods to promote mental and physical well-being. Activities include teacher training to identify student distress, meetings with mentors, and inclusive sports demonstrations. The project is part of the SHE (School for Health in Europe) Sicily network, which involves an agreement between the Sicilian Department of Health and the Regional School Office.

In a recent event in Marsala, over 1,000 students from the Trapani province participated in activities hosted at the 37th Wing of the Italian Air Force in Birgi. The event featured various sports, including basketball, tennis, taekwondo, equestrianism, rugby, and vortex throwing. To supplement physical activity, the Vivi Sano association provided psychological support and information services to assist families in addressing pathological dependencies.
