Sicily youth sports voucher program

Overview

The Sicilian Regional Government has launched a sports voucher program designed to support children and adolescents aged 6 to 16 from low-income families. Funded by a 6 million euro allocation from the regional stability law, the initiative provides 50 euros per month to help cover costs for activities within amateur sports associations affiliated with the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP).

To qualify, beneficiaries must come from families with an ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) of no more than 12,000 euros. The program, which runs from September 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027, aims to promote health, social inclusion, and combat delinquency. Distribution of the 14,550 vouchers is based on provincial population density, with the highest numbers allocated to Palermo and Catania.
