Silvio Rodríguez performances in Spain

Overview

Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez performed at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, marking his return to the city after ten years. The concert was attended by approximately 2,300 people and featured a repertoire including ‘Historia de las sillas’, ‘Ala de colibrí’, and songs from his 2024 album ‘Quería saber’. Rodríguez was accompanied by a musical ensemble that included his daughter, Malva, on keyboards. The event included political undertones, as audience members shouted pro-Cuba slogans while anti-Castro protesters gathered nearby on La Rambla.

Following the Barcelona performance, Rodríguez traveled to Seville, where he performed two concerts at the FIBES Congress and Exhibition Palace. These shows drew approximately 3,500 attendees over a Friday and Saturday. This visit marked the artist’s return to Seville after roughly two decades. The performances highlighted his enduring relevance across multiple generations, featuring classic songs such as ‘El necio’ and ‘Te doy una canción’.
