Sinaloa sanitary risk prevention initiatives

Overview

Authorities in Sinaloa have implemented several initiatives to strengthen sanitary prevention and public health protections.

In late August 2026, the Secretariat of Welfare and Sustainable Development (SEBIDES) and the State Commission of Potable Water and Sewerage of Sinaloa held meetings with regional water boards. These sessions focused on enhancing response capacities for potential sanitary emergencies and ensuring the supply of potable water. The efforts included workshops on the Official Mexican Standard NOM-179-SSA1-2020 to improve technical knowledge regarding water quality for human consumption.

Concurrently, the State Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COEPRISS), with support from Sinaloa Civil Protection, conducted training for personnel on the management of Biological-Infectious Hazardous Waste (RPBI). This training addressed the identification, separation, handling, and disposal of hazardous waste to mitigate health and environmental risks.
