Sivas municipal infrastructure and energy projects

Overview

The Sivas Municipality has initiated two major infrastructure projects aimed at improving local energy production and waste management.

In October 2026, the municipality broke ground on a 15 megawatt solar energy plant in the Meraküm area. The 485 million TL investment is expected to produce electricity valued at approximately 200 million TL annually, helping the municipality achieve energy self-sufficiency.

Later in the month, the municipality and the Sivas Central and Surrounding Municipalities Solid Waste Management Union (SİVÇEKAB) began construction on a 636 million TL solid waste regular storage area at the Seyfebeli site. This collaborative project involving several surrounding municipalities aims to address the city’s waste management needs for approximately 20 years through recycling, composting, and modern disposal methods.
