Skepta album rollout and release
Overview
British grime artist Skepta has begun the rollout for his upcoming studio album, ‘The Fork and Knife’, his first full-length project in over seven years.
The campaign launched with the single ‘Innocent Smile’, a collaboration with Chase & Status and Suggs that blends rap with electronic genres such as UK garage, house, and jungle. A music video for the track, directed by Aidan Zamiri, was released to accompany the single.
Skepta subsequently announced that the full album is scheduled for release on November 6 via Big Smoke/Epic Records. The project is expected to explore themes of identity, diaspora, immigration, and patriarchy, drawing inspiration from Windrush history and 1980s Nigerian-British imagery. Regarding his seven-year hiatus, Skepta stated he intended to avoid creating ‘meaningless content’ for algorithms in favor of more honest art.
