Slovak export and international business expansion

Slovak exporters are increasingly focusing on risk management and the verification of reliable business partners due to geopolitical conflicts and shifting supply chains. According to the Eximbanka 2026 Export Barometer, 26.9 percent of respondents identified partner reliability as a primary challenge, while 20.4 percent cited financial risks and payment terms as major concerns.

To address these challenges and expand international presence, new strategic initiatives have emerged. The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) organized a business mission to Ukraine as part of the Carpathian Integration Initiative, which connects businesses across the C8 group, including Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Ukraine. This initiative targets sectors such as energy, transport, logistics, construction, agriculture, and information technology.

Additionally, Eximbanka is collaborating with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to align the development needs of Ukraine, the Western Balkans, and Central Asia with the technological expertise and export capacities of Slovak firms. This partnership aims to utilize Eximbanka’s financing and insurance tools to support large-scale development projects in these regions.
