Slovak mobile pricing and roaming costs

On 26 July, Slovakia’s regulator published a quarterly price comparison that showed low‑cost brands 4ka and O2 (and affiliates such as Tesco mobile) offering the cheapest mobile packages across a range of data and voice‑and‑data plans. The same report noted that the regulator intends to roll out free intelligent electricity meters to all Slovak households, stressing that the costs of the programme may later be reflected in network or electricity fees.

Three days later, Slovak operators warned that roaming data in Turkey can become extremely expensive without a dedicated package, citing Orange’s charge of up to €10.17 per megabyte. Other providers, including 4ka, O2 and Telekom, offered regulated tariffs that still could exceed the price of prepaid bundles. In the neighbouring Czech Republic, a carrier promoted fully unlimited voice, SMS and data plans starting at 392 CZK per month for multi‑SIM bundles, highlighting the availability of low‑cost options for consumers. Both pieces underscore ongoing concerns about mobile‑service pricing for Slovak users, both at home and abroad, and the need to select appropriate plans to avoid unexpected fees.
