SNCF rail service disruptions in France
Entities: Nomad Résa · Normandy · SNCF · Paris
Overview
In July 2026 the French national railway operator SNCF began modernization work on the Paris‑Cherbourg line, leading to service interruptions across that corridor. Later in the month, a surprise strike by SNCF workers added further disruption, suspending most Normandy‑bound services between Paris and Caen, Rouen, Le Havre, Deauville and other destinations from July 31 through August 2. While some regional routes such as Paris‑Granville continued to run, passengers on the affected lines were urged to postpone travel, with free ticket exchanges or refunds offered for reservations altered before departure. Updated timetables were posted online each day of the disruptions.
