SNCF Réseau railway infrastructure projects in France
Overview
SNCF Réseau has initiated several infrastructure modernization and maintenance projects across different French railway lines.
In mid-August, a €1.3 million project began on the Paris-Mulhouse line near Port-d’Atelier-Amance to replace 4 km of rails and two switches. This work, intended to improve safety and traffic regularity, is scheduled to run through December 18, involving specific weekday windows and weekend traffic suspensions.
Following this, a larger €8.7 million investment was launched for the Dijon-Paris line in the Yonne department. Centered in Laroche-Migennes and Saint-Florentin, the largest portion of this budget is dedicated to Laroche-Migennes for replacing switches, sleepers, and ballast. These works are expected to continue until December 11, 2026, and will require daily staffing of approximately 65 agents alongside various service interruptions.
Additional modernization efforts are expanding across the French transport network. In the Île-de-France region, RER A service is resuming between Vincennes and Noisy-le-Grand, while RER B will face traffic interruptions between Gare du Nord and Denfert-Rochereau during the weekend of August 29-30 for signaling upgrades. Platform renovations are also occurring at Nation station.
Other localized projects include an €860,000 modernization of station access and greenery at Pont-de-l'Arche to support the Rouen-Paris line, as well as maintenance at Remiremont station. In Brest, maintenance is scheduled for the cable car in late September, alongside nighttime maintenance for tramway lines A and B.
