Snow Man ‘AMENITY’ album release and commercial success
Overview
The Japanese group Snow Man launched promotional activities for their sixth studio album, ‘AMENITY’, beginning with a large-scale special exhibition at SHIBUYA TSUTAYA. The exhibition, which ran until October 12, utilized a ‘hotel staff’ theme to immerse visitors in the album’s concept.
Following the exhibition, the group officially released the album, which is centered around a fictional setting called ‘HOTEL ALL SUITE’. Led by the track ‘Good Time’, the release features various genres, including funk-pop, R&B, and jazz-pop. The album was made available in multiple editions: Limited Editions A and B contain nine tracks, while the Standard Edition features 14 songs, including new unit songs with different member combinations. To promote the project, members appeared on several Japanese morning programs, such as ‘Mezamashi TV’, ‘Nonstop!’, and ‘THE TIME,’, where they discussed their music and filming experiences in Paris.
Upon release, ‘AMENITY’ achieved significant commercial success, debuting at number one on the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking with first-week sales of 1.014 million copies. This marks the group’s seventh consecutive number one album and their fifth consecutive album to achieve million-seller status in its debut week. This achievement makes Snow Man only the second artist in Oricon history to reach five consecutive first-week million-selling albums, following the rock band B’z, and is the first time this feat has been accomplished in the Reiwa era.
Notably, the group is currently operating without member Ren Meguro, who has been on hiatus since January to film the second season of the series ‘SHOGUN’. Consequently, the album’s content, excluding specific tracks and music videos, features the remaining eight members.
