The São Caetano City Council has engaged in separate proceedings regarding allegations of misconduct against its members.

In early September, the Chamber of Deputies established a processing commission to investigate Councilman Getúlio de Carvalho Filho, known as Getulinho (União Brasil). The investigation stems from a 70-page complaint alleging abuse of prerogative, violation of patient rights in Intensive Care Units, and failure to follow biosafety protocols. If the infractions are confirmed, the councilman could face loss of mandate and suspension of political rights for up to eight years.

Later in the month, the Council rejected a motion to establish a disciplinary commission against government leader and councilman César Oliva (PSD). The complaint, filed by a resident, alleged a breach of parliamentary decorum related to a social media post. Oliva defended himself by stating the accusation was a “politically motivated attempt to undermine him” that lacked material evidence.
