In early August 2026 São Paulo’s cultural program continued to expand. The festival’s strong comeback after a 2025 censorship attempt reaffirmed its role as a platform for critical literary and social discourse in Brazil. The 28th São Paulo Book Fair (Bienal do Livro) will run 4‑13 September 2026 at the Anhembi district, covering 86 000 m²—28 % larger than 2024—and hosting 269 exhibitors. Organisers expect up to 700 000 visitors. A “cashback” scheme converts the ticket price into book‑credit after 5 p.m.
