Social and civic engagement initiatives in Argentina

Overview

Various local initiatives in Argentina have been launched to promote social engagement and inclusion.

In late September, youth-focused programs were introduced to foster civic participation. In Cutral Co, the second Congress for Adolescents began, featuring workshops on mental health, digital citizenship, and social media. Meanwhile, in Santa Fe, the ‘Youth: Building Bridges for Democratic Participation’ meeting was held as part of a European Union program to empower young people and women in democratic processes.

Following these efforts, municipalities organized activities for October to observe Special Education and Inclusion Month. In Sáenz Peña, scheduled events included an inclusive fair and a walk organized by the Crecer con Todos institution. In Crespo, the ‘Trabajemos por la Inclusión’ program included film screenings, debates, and cultural events aimed at supporting individuals with disabilities.

In early October, local governments expanded youth-led legislative programs. In Necochea, the 2026 Youth Parliament saw secondary school students debate mental health, comprehensive sexual education (ESI), environmental education, human rights, and the relationship between youth and work. In Avellaneda, the second Youth Council ceremony involved the swearing-in of 24 titular and 28 substitute members from 20 schools.

In late October, the ‘Cine y Comunidad’ program in Concepción del Uruguay hosted a screening of the film ‘Argentina, 1985’ for adolescents. The event used the depiction of the historic Trial of the Juntas to encourage dialogue concerning democracy, human rights, and collective memory.
