Social and economic development in Huelva
Overview
The Huelva region has initiated several programs focused on social support, urban improvement, and economic diversification.
In El Puerto de Huelva, the ‘Puerto Ciudad 2026’ call has funded the ‘Tejiendo Redes de Apoyo’ project to assist vulnerable minors and families. Concurrently, urban improvement projects in the neighborhoods of Poblado de Doña Blanca, El Tejar, and La Angelita Alta are being implemented to optimize streets and parking, with the expectation of providing employment for approximately 150 people through the Agrarian Employment Promotion Program.
In the Condado de Huelva region, the ‘Dinamiza Doñana’ project was launched to promote sustainable tourism, specifically through the development of enotourism and wine route experiences. Additionally, the Huelva City Council has entered into an agreement with several organizations to promote social and solidarity economies. This initiative aims to use responsible public procurement to create inclusive employment opportunities in sectors such as waste management, energy efficiency, and industrial laundry.
