SOFOFA employment and labor initiatives in Chile
Overview
The Sociedad de Fomento Fabril (SOFOFA) has initiated several programs and discussions aimed at improving employment and labor conditions in Chile.
Initially, SOFOFA partnered with the Unión Social de Empresarios Cristianos (USEC) to launch an employability program for incarcerated and former prisoners. This initiative, which includes a pilot in the Biobío region, focuses on vocational training and formal employment to assist in social reintegration.
Subsequently, SOFOFA expanded its focus to broader labor regulations through its ‘Trabajo 3x3’ seminar. The organization discussed implementing labor flexibility and updating laws to address unemployment among women and youth, proposing measures such as hourly contracts to support those balancing work and education.
