Sograndio Juvenile Center escape and recapture

Overview

Following an organized assault on the Sograndio Juvenile Center in Oviedo that injured five security staff, five youths fled the facility. On August 6, police from the Joint Hendaya–Irún precinct recaptured two of the escaped minors near Santiago Children’s Park in Irún. After confirming outstanding judicial warrants for their detention and return, officers transferred the teenagers to police facilities before returning them to the Sograndio center.
