Somali security operations against Al-Shabaab

Overview

Somalia's National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has intensified operations against Al-Shabaab through both targeted raids and arrests.

In Hirshabelle State, NISA and international partners conducted coordinated raids in Miirtaqwo and Tardo. These operations destroyed a propaganda facility used by the Al-Andalus radio outlet and resulted in the deaths of two senior propaganda officials, including Abdisamad Mohamed, along with 14 other fighters.

Following these regional operations, security efforts shifted toward the capital, where NISA arrested nine suspects in the Mogadishu area. Authorities identified a network within the detainees that was allegedly planning attacks against civilians to destabilize the city.
