South American regional investment promotion

Overview

South American nations are actively promoting investment opportunities through diplomatic missions and regional business forums. In Argentina, Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno met with firms and sovereign wealth funds in Singapore to highlight strategic sectors such as energy, mining, food, and infrastructure. While tools like the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) drive large-scale interest, experts noted that small and medium-sized enterprises still struggle with financing and that long-term certainty requires policy continuity.

Broader regional efforts include forums designed to evaluate macroeconomic trends and geopolitical positioning. In Argentina, the ABECEB forum is analyzing the investment landscape for 2026, focusing on technology and agriculture. Meanwhile, in Peru, initiatives like EXPOCEC 2026 aim to strengthen business alliances between Peru and Colombia, targeting sectors such as sanitation, transport, and mining, with potential public-private partnership portfolios valued at over US$62.8 billion.
