South American regional sports infrastructure renovations

Overview

Regional sports infrastructure projects are progressing across various locations in Argentina and Venezuela.

In Argentina, the Instituto Provincial del Deporte in Posadas, Misiones, has reopened following renovations that included new lighting, offices, bathrooms, a repainted facade, and a new parquet floor for the basketball court. In Río Gallegos, Santa Cruz, the municipality is inaugurating the expansion of the Benjamín Verón Municipal Gymnasium as part of a broader investment strategy that also includes the Juan Bautista Rocha Gymnasium and the ‘Indio’ Nicolás court. Local officials have noted the social value of these works while expressing concerns regarding the lack of national and provincial support for sports institutions facing rising utility costs.

In Venezuela, rehabilitation efforts are underway at the Juan Maldonado swimming pool in San Cristóbal. Led by Olympic swimmer Erwin Maldonado through his foundation, the project has seen the installation of new lane lines to support training and competition for future generations.
