South American university Formula SAE participation

Overview

University engineering teams from Argentina and Chile are participating in the international Formula SAE competition. In Argentina, the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) team, FIUBA Racing, became the first Argentine public university to compete internationally, placing 25th out of 46 participants in Brazil with their vehicle, the ‘Suipacha 901’.

In Chile, the ESUS team from the University of Santiago (Usach) is focusing on electromobility. As the first generation of Chilean university students to develop a Formula Student project, they are working toward the FSAE 2027 competition in Brazil with the goal of developing an electric single-seater.
