Overview
Efforts to support the commercialization of biotechnology and pharmaceutical startups in South Korea have expanded through new strategic partnerships.
In late August 2026, the KIMCo Foundation and Biolink Partners signed a Memorandum of Understanding to foster the growth of biotech startups. This collaboration focuses on combining industry networks with business development expertise to transform research into commercial opportunities through consulting, investment attraction, and global partnering programs.
By September 2026, Celltrion expanded this ecosystem by launching the ‘2026 KBIC-Celltrion Global Scale-up Program’ in partnership with Japan’s Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster (KBIC). This initiative, the first public-private open innovation program between a South Korean company and a Japanese bio-cluster, provides mentoring and technical advisory services to help startups transition from basic research to global commercialization in fields such as antibodies, peptides, and anti-aging.
