South Korean local government anti-corruption training

Local government bodies in South Korea are conducting anti-corruption and integrity training for public officials to enhance ethical responsibility and maintain public trust.

In Busan, the Sasang-gu Council held training for 31 members and staff, focusing on laws such as the ‘Conflict of Interest Prevention Act for Public Servants’ and the ‘Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.’ The program utilized cultural performances to communicate the importance of integrity.

Similarly, in Incheon, Yeongjong-gu held a session for employees to prevent corruption risks in daily operations. District Head Son Hwa-jeong noted that administrative practices are “directly linked to resident trust.” The district is implementing ongoing initiatives such as ‘Integrity Week’ and customized training tailored to specific job roles.

As part of holiday preparations for Chuseok, Dongjak-gu and Yeongjong-gu have expanded these efforts through anti-corruption campaigns and training sessions. These initiatives include education on the ‘Improper Solicitation and Graft Act’ and intensive reporting periods for corrupt activities to foster a culture of transparency.
