South Sulawesi road infrastructure development

Overview

The South Sulawesi provincial government is executing a Multiyears Project (MYP) to improve regional road infrastructure through various construction and rehabilitation packages.

In early September, Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman inspected progress on the Paleteang-Malimpung-Kabere route, a project valued at Rp478 billion. This specific package covers 254 kilometers across 15 road sections, focusing on construction, maintenance, and preservation to enhance connectivity between Pinrang and Enrekang regencies.

By late September, the Governor announced the reopening of the 1.8-kilometer Aroepala road, which restores traffic access between Makassar and Gowa Regency. This work was part of MYP Package 1, an initiative valued between Rp430 billion and Rp487 billion. While the main concrete-paved thoroughfare is open, secondary works such as drainage, sidewalks, and medians are scheduled for staged implementation.
