Spanish agricultural market price trends
Overview
Agricultural markets in Spain continue to exhibit fluctuating price trends across various sectors. Commodity movements remain mixed: in Binéfar, barley prices rose to 244 euros per tonne, and wheat prices saw slight increases for both feed and bread varieties. In León, barley and oats experienced modest increases, while corn harvesting progresses due to stable weather. Conversely, in Salamanca, sunflower and corn prices declined, though alfalfa prices rose.
In the livestock sector, lamb prices have shown upward trends. In Albacete and at the Lonja Agropecuaria de La Mancha, prices for Manchego lamb and other categories rose, including lambs weighing between 10.5 and 15 kg. While prices for the smallest lambs remained stable, prices for kids previously saw a decline.
Vegetable and fruit markets have faced significant price surges. Cultivated vegetables, including tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers, reported monthly increases of 18.5% and annual increases of 17.3%. Fresh berries also experienced a substantial annual price increase of 47.4%. Despite these surges and certain decreases in sugar and cereal prices, food inflation remains a factor in the consumer price index.
