Spanish basketball league developments

Spanish basketball activities have transitioned from youth development and roster announcements to professional preseason preparations.

In late July, the Spanish Basketball Federation announced the Jr. NBA 3x3 league tournament in Valladolid, scheduled for September 13, which aims to host approximately 300 players under the age of 12. Concurrently, several professional roster changes were confirmed for the 2026–27 season, including player movements involving Baskonia, Valencia Basket, Leyma Coruña, Partizan, and Movistar Estudiantes.

By mid-August, professional clubs such as Surne Bilbao and Valencia Basket commenced preseason training. Surne Bilbao is preparing for a schedule that includes the Basketball Champions League, while managing players participating in FIBA international windows. Valencia Basket, the reigning Liga Endesa and Supercopa champion, has entered a new phase under head coach Xavi Albert, beginning physical evaluations and integrating new signings.

On August 17, Real Madrid announced the return of power forward Eli Ndiaye on a two-season contract through the end of the 2027-2028 season. The 22-year-old secured his return to the club by exercising a right of first refusal, matching an offer from Valencia Basket. Ndiaye, who previously won eight titles with the club, returns following a stint with the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA. His signing is intended to provide interior depth for coach Pedro Martínez following the departure of Mario Hezonja.
