Spanish international sporting achievements

Spanish athletes have achieved various successes in international sporting competitions. At the World Sprint Canoe Championships in Poland, the Spanish women’s K4 500 team advanced to the finals, alongside other paddlers moving into semifinals or finals.

During the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, the Spanish delegation secured multiple medals in wrestling, with Carla Jaume and Lydia Pérez both earning silver. In shooting, Spanish athletes Mar Molné and Andrés García also secured a silver medal in the mixed clay pigeon event. Other competitions at the games include padel, where top seeds from Portugal and an upset by a Greek duo have shaped the tournament progress.

Recent achievements at the Mediterranean Games include a gold medal for Alba Sánchez in the -53 kg weightlifting category, where she set a new national record with a total of 186 kg. María Olalla also earned a silver medal in the -61 kg weightlifting category. Furthermore, the Spanish athletics delegation secured four silver medals, including two in the 800-meter events.

In the weightlifting two-lifts category (-53 kg), Alba Sánchez secured a gold medal and set a new national record with a 105 kg lift, noting the achievement was meaningful following a “difficult recovery from injury.” María Olalla also contributed to the medal count, earning a silver medal in the two-lifts category and a bronze in the snatch.

In parasurfing, Sarah Almagro secured first place in the PS-P2 category at the Pantín Classic with 14.50 points. This edition featured a record participation of approximately 50 parasurfers. Almagro, a former Spanish, European, and World titleholder, stated her long-term goal is to reach the Paralympic Games.
