Spanish Koldo case judicial investigations

Overview

Judicial inquiries in Spain are expanding to examine the connections between the Koldo case and members of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE).

One investigation is scrutinizing the financial activities of former PSOE Secretary of Organization Santos Cerdán. A magistrate has requested digital evidence and documentation to determine the exact sources of Cerdán’s income and his potential links to the Koldo case. The UCO estimated that Cerdán and his family benefited from at least 323,178.41 euros between 2015 and 2024.

Concurrently, in the Leire case, National Court judge Santiago Pedraz is investigating an alleged scheme to frustrate judicial proceedings. Leticia de la Hoz, the lawyer for Koldo García, has requested that the PSOE formally certify she has never been on the party’s payroll. This request seeks to establish her dissociation from the alleged plot. The PSOE has expressed concerns regarding professional secrecy while awaiting guidance from the General Council of the Spanish Bar regarding the release of data on party-contracted lawyers.
