Spanish local digital and professional training initiatives

Overview

Local government entities across Spain are implementing various training programs to support small businesses and professionals. In La Gomera, the Cabildo and the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife are providing sessions on digital marketing, social media, and artificial intelligence to help entrepreneurs transition to digital commerce. Similarly, in l’Alfàs del Pi, the City Council and the Pacte Territorial per l’Ocupació de la Marina Baixa (POMB) hosted workshops focused on e-commerce and commercial expansion.

In Catalonia, the Generalitat’s Business Development Service (SDE) is organizing specialized training for micro-enterprises and SMEs to improve visibility on generative AI platforms through Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). Additionally, the Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística has introduced the “Comerços aprenents” program in Sant Cugat, which offers flexible Catalan language training directly at workplaces for employees in the service and retail sectors.
