Spanish Navy Arnomendi fishery surveillance missions

Overview

The Spanish Navy patrol vessel Arnomendi commenced a mission from the La Graña Naval Station in Ferrol to conduct fishery surveillance and inspection campaigns. This mission included the ‘Campaña Costera del Bonito’ (Coastal Bonito Campaign) and participation in the ‘Joint Deployment Plan’ (JDP) to monitor demersal and pelagic species in the Northeast Atlantic European Union waters.

During these operations, the vessel was tasked with verifying authorized vessels, inspecting catches, reviewing fishing gear, and monitoring closed seasons and fishing zones with assistance from the ‘Secretaría General de Pesca’. Following the tuna fishing inspection campaign, the Arnomendi docked in Santander for an open house event, allowing the public to visit the ship before it proceeded to its next mission under the JDP.
