Spanish reservoir capacity levels

Overview

In early September 2026, reservoir levels in Spain showed significant capacity compared to historical averages. In the province of Córdoba, reservoirs reached 76.29% capacity, which is substantially higher than the decadal average of 32.6%. This represented a 66% increase in volume compared to the same period in 2025, despite a minor weekly decline caused by summer urban and agricultural demand.

By September 8, national reservoir levels in Spain were reported at 62.6% capacity. While scarce rainfall led to a weekly decrease of 802 cubic hectometers, several basins, including the Guadalquivir and Guadiana, maintained levels above 70%. Additionally, Catalonia reported improved levels at 76.4% compared to previous years of deficit.
