Spanish youth and senior travel programs

Overview

In July 2026, Spain’s Imserso launched its annual travel program, offering trips starting at €133.

By August 2026, the Verano Joven program, managed by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, reported significant engagement. The initiative surpassed 2.5 million trips via bus and train between July 1 and August 10, with approximately 1.94 million individuals aged 18 to 30 registered to use the subsidies.

For its fourth edition, the government allocated nearly 130 million euros to fund discounts of up to 90% on state-level bus services and medium-distance trains, and 50% on Avant high-speed services. The program also includes discounts for Interrail passes through September 30, 2026. The initiative is intended to encourage collective land transport, reduce carbon emissions and road accidents, and support tourism and rural development.
