Speeding enforcement on Gostivar–Tetovo highway

Overview

Authorities in North Macedonia have conducted high-speed interceptions on the Gostivar–Tetovo highway as part of nationwide efforts to increase road safety.

On October 16, a 27-year-old motorcyclist from Gostivar was detained for traveling at 188 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The driver faces charges of ‘reckless driving of a motor vehicle’ under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.

One week later, on October 23, a 44-year-old driver was intercepted traveling at 194 km/h in a Rolls-Royce on the same highway. This individual also faces potential criminal charges for reckless driving under Article 297-a of the Penal Code.
