Spezia Calcio 120th anniversary and league performance

Overview

Spezia Calcio organized a series of events to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the club. Initial festivities included stadium tours of the Alberto Picco stadium and an event titled ‘120 E NON SENTIRLI’ featuring testimonies from players. The celebrations included a gala event where Lega Pro president Matteo Marani praised the club’s historical and social significance, noting its ability to generate popular passion.

The anniversary also highlighted the financial stability provided by American owner Tom Roberts, who has reportedly injected nearly 70 million euros into the club’s finances since the spring of 2025 to support the project following a period of potential failure.

During the inauguration of a historical exhibition, President Charlie Stillitano called for humility and focus during the club’s Serie C campaign. Reflecting on a recent relegation, Stillitano described the period as a ‘difficult but important lesson’ and noted that the club is essentially restarting its history. He emphasized a cautious, step-by-step approach to ensure long-term stability, crediting the progress to coach Turati, the players, and technical director Guido Angelozzi.

As the anniversary celebrations continued, the club achieved significant on-field success. Spezia secured its eighth consecutive victory by defeating Gubbio at the Stadio Alberto Picco, a win that kept the team at the top of the league standings. Under manager Marco Turati, the team utilized an aggressive playing style and high-pressing defense to control the match.
