Sports recognition in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia

Overview

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sport has allocated over 1 million KM to athletes, clubs, and coaches to recognize 2026 achievements. Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević stated that the increased funding reflects the “growing success of Bosnian athletes on the international stage.”

In Serbia, recent recognition efforts have focused on young talent. Ten-year-old jiu-jitsu athlete Bogdan Obradović became the youngest recipient of the Golden Medal for merits in the country’s history, receiving the award from President Aleksandar Vučić. Additionally, the Club of Youth named thirteen-year-old swimmer Strahinja Rakić and sixteen-year-old combat athlete Milica Nikolić among the 100 most successful young athletes in Serbia.
