Stal Rzeszów and Franciszek Majewski contract dispute

A contract dispute between speedway rider Franciszek Majewski and the club Stal Rzeszów has escalated into a disciplinary investigation. Initially, the League’s Adjudicating Commission ruled that Majewski’s contract was terminated due to the fault of the club, permitting the rider to seek a new team. Majewski alleged the termination was a retaliatory action by Club President Katarzyna Marszałek, while the club cited concerns over the rider’s medical leaves and performance. Stal Rzeszów announced its intention to appeal the ruling to the Main Commission of Speedway Sport.

Following the dispute, the PGE Ekstraliga governing body launched disciplinary proceedings against President Marszałek. This investigation was prompted by a recording of a conversation involving club officials and Majewski, in which he was reportedly told that if he did not improve, he would have to “hang up his kevlar in a barn.” PGE Ekstraliga president Wojciech Stępniewski characterized the methods used in the recording as “reprehensible.” Stal Rzeszów management has declined to comment on the investigation.
