Structural fires in Colombia

Overview

Multiple structural fires have been reported across various Colombian municipalities, resulting in property damage and humanitarian needs.

In mid-October, fires occurred in Rionegro and Yopal. In Rionegro, an apartment fire damaged several rooms and affected the floor above the unit, with the cause under investigation. In Yopal, a fire suspected to be caused by a short circuit destroyed a bedroom, causing approximately 15 million pesos in damage and leaving a family in need of supplies.

By late October, additional fires were reported in Manizales and Itagüí. In Manizales, a blaze reportedly originated in a solid waste recycling area, affecting seven homes. Local authorities began conducting a census to coordinate aid. In Itagüí, emergency units responded to a fire in the Playa Rica neighborhood characterized by dense black smoke, though the full extent of the damage and the number of people affected were not immediately confirmed.
