Student road safety initiatives in Italy

Educational programs focused on road safety and law enforcement engagement have been implemented for students in Italy.

In Legnago, the ‘Ragazzi On the Road’ project, part of the ‘Prendo Spazio’ regional youth policy, allows high school students to shadow local police. Participants observe daily operations, such as monitoring pedestrian crossings, managing highway traffic, and assisting in accident investigations. The initiative aims to foster closer ties between youth and law enforcement while increasing awareness of road risks.

In the Vibonese region, specifically Brognaturo, an initiative led by Anas and Gruppo FS Italiane trained 240 students as ‘Road Safety Ambassadors’. This program utilized practical demonstrations, including the use of drones to inspect bridges and viaducts along the A2 Autostrada del Mediterraneo, to educate students on infrastructure monitoring technology.
