Studentska lista political activity in Serbia

Overview

The Studentska lista political group in Serbia has been campaigning on a platform focused on anti-corruption, public sector professionalization, and the implementation of lustration laws. Candidate Dejan Šoškić has criticized the current administration regarding rising public debt and a lack of transparency in major projects.

Following recent elections, the group’s activities have expanded to include allegations of financial instability. Candidate Nemanja Karović claimed there were indications of an attempted theft of approximately one billion dinars from Banka Poštanska štedionica, an allegation the bank has denied as “inaccurate and unfounded.” Karović stated that the incident could have threatened the bank’s liquidity and the stability of the financial system, potentially disrupting the payment of salaries and pensions. He noted that the National Bank of Serbia and the prosecutor's office were notified.

Additionally, the student movement’s demands regarding perceived media bias contributed to the resignation of Manja Grcic, the Director General of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS). Karović has also accused Telekom Srbija of using public funds for political purposes, alleging that the Informer tabloid receives between 500,000 and 700,000 euros monthly from the company. In response, the Studentska lista has called for the dismissal of Telekom Srbija director Vladimir Lučić. To address systemic issues, the group is now proposing judicial reforms, including the creation of a special court to prosecute high-ranking state officials, regardless of their administration.
