Sudene regional development initiatives in Brazil

Overview

The Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) has implemented several initiatives aimed at regional advancement in Brazil.

In the digital sector, a new platform titled ‘Cidades Inteligentes na Palma da Mão’ was launched to enhance access to public services. Developed by the University of Pernambuco with Sudene support, the tool is being piloted in the municipalities of São Lourenço da Mata and Carnaíba to facilitate citizen-government interaction and provide georeferenced data for urban planning.

Simultaneously, Sudene has approved 19 requests for fiscal incentives, including Corporate Income Tax reductions, across seven Brazilian states. These approved projects, which involve investments exceeding R$ 220 million and employ 3,902 workers, focus on the modernization and expansion of various sectors. Significant investments were directed toward the tourism industry in Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte.
