Summer carnivals in Italian coastal regions

Overview

The 2026 summer carnival in Tarquinia began on 25 July with a parade of over thirteen giant inflatable figures, some exceeding ten metres in height. Organized by the Comune di Tarquinia and various local groups, the free-entry event utilized large sculptures along the lungomare as a modern alternative to traditional confetti throws.

Following the initial launch, celebrations continued across Italian coastal regions. In Tarquinia Lido, a second scheduled parade was set for 16 August to engage families along the seafront. Similar summer carnival festivities were also observed in Cardedu at Museddu beach, which featured traditional Sardinian masks, costumes, and pyrotechnics.
