Sunarp service expansion and guidance in Peru

The National Superintendency of Public Registries (Sunarp) in Peru has implemented initiatives to expand service accessibility and provide legal guidance to citizens.

To address geographic barriers in the sierra and jungle regions, Sunarp entered a cooperation agreement with the National PAIS Program. This partnership utilizes 522 ‘Tambos’—territorial platforms—to bring registry services to over one million inhabitants in 22 regions, specifically targeting those in poverty or extreme poverty. The program includes training managers in digital tools like the Online Registry Publicity Service (SPRL) to facilitate property registration and business constitution in remote areas.

Additionally, Sunarp has issued guidance for the purchase of used vehicles to ensure legal security. The agency advises buyers to verify registration status for liens, theft reports, or encumbrances through the Vehicle Registration Certificate and the Mobile Guarantee Information System (SIGM). The process requires formalizing transactions via a notary and registering the transfer in the Vehicle Property Registry to confirm official ownership.
