Suspect escape in Velika Gorica

Overview

A 47-year-old man, identified as Željko B., escaped from police custody while in handcuffs in front of the County Court in Velika Gorica. The escape occurred around 2:20 PM as an officer was opening a transport vehicle door following an investigation.

The suspect had been ordered into one-month investigative detention for suspected crimes involving the violation of a child's rights and the non-execution of a court decision. He fled toward the Cvjetno naselje area during the incident.

The Zagreb Police Administration launched a large-scale manhunt, releasing a description of the man as being between 175 and 180 cm tall, with a slim build, blue eyes, and light brown hair tied in a ponytail. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a red short-sleeved shirt with the text ‘PREFA’ and grey shorts.

Following the escape, the suspect was arrested in the Jarun area of Zagreb. He had recently been released from prison after serving a sentence of four years and eight months and was facing allegations involving threats made to a former partner.
