Suspected mass poisoning in Ondo State

Overview

Authorities in Ondo State, Nigeria, are investigating a suspected mass poisoning incident in the Odigbo Local Government Area. Reports indicate that at least 30 residents died following the consumption of herbal liquids or locally produced alcoholic drinks, primarily in Odigbo town and Araromi Obu.

At least 50 other individuals are receiving medical treatment for symptoms including acute abdominal pain, severe vomiting, and respiratory distress. The Ondo State Police Command and health officials are conducting toxicological examinations and autopsies to identify the specific substance involved.
