Suspicious deaths and disappearances in São Paulo

Overview

Authorities in São Paulo are investigating a series of suspicious deaths and disappearances involving various individuals.

In late September, the body of 25-year-old app driver Rafael Zimbarg Francez was discovered in the trunk of his vehicle in the West Zone of São Paulo after he had been missing for four days. Police noted the vehicle had adulterated license plates, and preliminary observations indicated signs of violence, including a gunshot wound.

By early October, additional cases emerged. In Guarujá, the body of app driver Andre Rodrigues Couto was found at Mar Casado Beach after he went missing on September 29. Separately, farm manager Sérgio Carvalho de Souza was located in the Montalvão River near Santo Expedito after his vehicle was found submerged.

While social media theories have suggested the presence of a serial killer following the discovery of five bodies in bags or blankets across different regions between September 5 and October 2, the Civil Police stated there is currently ‘no evidence linking these homicides’ together.
