Suzlon Energy business and infrastructure expansion
Overview
Suzlon Energy has reported mixed financial results alongside significant operational expansion in the Indian wind energy sector.
In its Q1 FY27 earnings report, the company saw a 22.5% year-on-year revenue increase to Rs 3,819 crore, though net profit after tax declined by 5.9% to Rs 305 crore. Despite a 9% drop in share price following the announcement, the company achieved a record 506 MW of wind power delivery and grew its cumulative order book to approximately 6.1 GW.
Building on this momentum, Suzlon is expanding its infrastructure and project footprint. The company has secured 1.1 GW of new orders for FY27, including a 250 MW order from Torrent Green Energy. This partnership, involving the supply of 76 S144 wind turbines with 3.3 MW capacity each, brings the cumulative total with Torrent to over 1.3 GW across Gujarat, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh.
In Andhra Pradesh, Suzlon is planning a ₹10,000 crore investment to develop 1,325 MW of wind power capacity in the Anantapur district, in collaboration with Tata Power and Waaree Energy. The company aims to reach a total of 5 GW of renewable energy projects in the state by 2030. To support this, new S144 wind blade manufacturing lines are being inaugurated in Huliker village. Suzlon’s existing operations in Andhra Pradesh include over 1,700 MW of installed capacity, with a local manufacturing facility accounting for approximately 40% of the company’s global blade production.
