Swedish railway infrastructure planning developments

Trafikverket has announced several planning developments for major Swedish railway projects.

For the Sydostlänken project, the agency proposed a new route between Olofström and the Blekinge coastline. Regarding the Ostlänken project, authorities decided to proceed with a grade-separated connection to the Southern Main Line at Torvinge, east of Linköping, rather than extending into central Linköping. This decision aligns with national infrastructure plans for 2026–2037.

For the Norrbotniabanan, a preferred route was identified between the Västerbotten/Norrbotten border and Munksund. The plan features a fixed high bridge, approximately 30 meters tall, over Pitsund to accommodate shipping. The route is intended to follow Havsbadsvägen to minimize the impact on reindeer husbandry and residential areas.
