Syrian security operations against ISIS cells
Overview
Syrian internal security forces and the General Intelligence Directorate have conducted operations to dismantle Islamic State (Daesh) cells across different regions of the country.
In late July, authorities in Aleppo and its countryside dismantled two cells. The first cell was linked to assassination attempts and the planting of explosives, while the second was involved in several killings and planned attacks against military and security personnel. The operation resulted in the seizure of various weapons, including machine guns, pistols, and improvised explosive devices.
In early August, security forces dismantled a nine-member cell in the Quneitra countryside near Khan Arnabah. The group, allegedly led by Musab Khalil al-Sheikh, was reportedly involved in logistical and operational tasks, such as transporting weapons and explosive components to support movements in southern Syria. The detainees have been referred to judicial authorities.
