TAAG cargo service expansion in Southern Africa
Overview
TAAG Angola Airlines has inaugurated a new weekly dedicated freighter service between Luanda, Angola, and Lusaka, Zambia. Operated using a Boeing 737-800 freighter, the service began with an inaugural flight carrying 12.8 tonnes of cargo from Amsterdam, including IT equipment, machine parts, and high-value goods.
The route is a component of TAAG’s North–South logistics corridor, which seeks to connect African markets with Europe, China, and Brazil. In Zambia, the operation is supported by a partnership with NAC2000, which provides cargo handling and acts as the General Sales and Service Agent.
The service is intended to support the ‘Airlift Zambia’ initiative by improving export conditions for regional products such as poultry, beef, and horticultural goods. TAAG has indicated plans to further expand its network, including a proposed route to Libreville, Gabon, in 2026.
