Tahto judicial recovery and restructuring

Overview

Tahto, a Brazilian customer experience and business process outsourcing company and subsidiary of the telecommunications operator Oi, has undergone a judicial recovery process.

Initially, a judge in Rio de Janeiro approved the company’s judicial recovery plan, placing it under two years of judicial supervision. The ruling allowed for the sale of the business as an Isolated Productive Unit (UPI) to facilitate asset transfers without the buyer inheriting existing debts. During this period, the company faced labor unrest, with unions representing thousands of former Oi and Serede employees protesting unpaid wages and severance. Labor representatives sought to hold Oi and Serede liable for these debts.

Subsequently, the General Assembly of Creditors approved the judicial recovery plan, clearing the way for the company to proceed with its business plan and the sale of the firm. The company intends to publish an auction notice to identify a new shareholder and begin a new operational cycle.
